Solar Roof Installation Process

Place an Order

Place an order to get started. Once your order is placed, you will receive an automated email or SMS from Tesla confirming your purchase. You can visit your Tesla Account to view your project’s progress, or to connect with Tesla Support.

Home Energy Assessment

Once your Solar Roof order is placed, we will schedule a site visit to review your roof and confirm its size and complexity. We use information from the site visit to design your Solar Roof for your home.

Review Your Solar Roof Order

Your agreement includes the final hardware and installation price for your Solar Roof and Powerwall system, information about warranties and the terms and conditions for the order and installation.

Schedule Your Installation

After you approve your order, we’ll submit for permits and utility approval to install your Solar Roof. Once we receive these, we’ll reach out and schedule your installation.

Installation

Installation time is dependent on the size and complexity of your roof, but most installations take approximately five to seven business days to complete. After installation, you can start using Solar Roof when the utility provides permission to operate (PTO). PTO requirements vary by region and utility.

Once the system is installed, you can download the Tesla mobile app to monitor your system in real-time, anywhere.

Solar Roof has a 25-year tile warranty. See your limited warranty for complete details, including limitations and requirements.
