Tesla Home
Tesla Home controls your home battery, solar, Wall Connector and smart breakers to optimize electricity consumption in your home and increase your energy savings. Tesla Home also works with the Tesla app, giving you visibility into your energy usage and additional home energy control.
Tesla Home automatically makes hundreds of decisions about when to store and use energy. Those decisions can lead to large energy and cost savings. Through the Tesla app, you can see each home energy decision Tesla Home makes, why it made that choice and track how it affects your energy use and costs.
What Tesla Home Does
Goal Setting
Tesla Home allows you to tailor how your Powerwall, solar and other controllable loads operate based on your preferences. You can choose to maximize savings or self-consumption, and Tesla Home will adjust how your home operates to achieve this goal.
Optimization
Tesla Home is powered by Opticaster, the artificial intelligence (AI) engine for smart energy management that runs on every Powerwall. Opticaster forecasts solar production and home loads, then creates a personalized strategy to optimize energy usage and meet your goals.
Control
Tesla Home will automatically manage your solar, battery storage and controllable loads to reach your goals, whether that’s increasing your self-powered score or maximizing your energy savings. Use the Tesla app to make real-time adjustments based on your current needs, ensuring your system works exactly how you want it to.
Visibility
The Tesla app showcases the power flows and energy data of your solar, Powerwall and controllable loads to show both a live and historical view of your energy usage. With Home Status, you now have a simple summary that helps you make sense of what is happening at your home.
Tesla Home Features
Home Status
Understanding what is happening in your home energy system can be complex. Home Status helps you understand what’s happening now, what will happen next and why. The Tesla app uses AI to understand your energy system’s behavior and provides a summary of what the system is doing and why it made those decisions.
Charge on Solar
With Charge on Solar, your Tesla vehicle can charge using only excess solar energy produced by your solar system. Using excess energy to charge your electric vehicle maximizes self-consumption of your solar energy.
Smart Charging
Smart Charging creates a plan based on your solar production, home goals and driving needs, then automatically charges your Tesla vehicle or other supported EV at optimal times.
Smart Breakers
Eaton AbleEdge Smart Breakers allow you to monitor and manage individual loads in the Tesla app. You can see how much energy individual devices consume, turn devices on and off remotely and extend your backup duration by setting breakers to turn off during an outage.
Tesla App
The Tesla app shows you where your energy comes from, how much you use and where it all goes. Tesla Home works with the Tesla app to track solar production, Tesla vehicle charge stats, energy consumption and even shows the current weather conditions around your home.
