Ordering a Tesla Demo Vehicle

Once you decide which Tesla vehicle is right for you, consider ordering a demo vehicle of that model, if available. A demo vehicle has been used for demonstration purposes, such as demo drives or showroom staging, and has not been previously registered or titled. Demo vehicles typically have faster delivery and a lower purchase price.

Explore the available demo vehicle inventory in your area. Demo vehicles will have a “Demo Vehicle” label in the top left of its listing card. When placing your order, you will pay a one-time, non-refundable order fee with a credit card.

Paying for Your Demo Vehicle

Depending on your location, you can choose to lease the vehicle, purchase with financing or buy the demo vehicle outright. You may also be able to trade in your current vehicle and apply the trade-in value toward your purchase.

Before your delivery date, confirm your payment method with your Tesla Advisor and pay the amount due in your Tesla Account.

For final payment, we accept:

Electronic check (direct debit) in the Tesla app
Wire transfer
Certified check at time of delivery with your Reference Number (RN) and name in the memo line

Note: The total amount for your final payment must come from a single account. Leasing and financing options are contingent on credit approval and are not available in all states.

Preparing for Delivery

After ordering, use the same email address and password you used to place your order and sign in to your Tesla Account. Once you have signed in to your account, follow the prompts to provide your information, including trade-in, registration and delivery details.

If you are trading in your vehicle, connect with your Tesla Advisor to ensure you have all items prepared such as your title, lien release or any other supplementary documents necessary to transfer ownership to Tesla. If you’re still making payments on your trade-in vehicle, refrain from paying off the loan to prevent a delay in delivery.

Review your plan for charging your vehicle at home and order charging accessories.

Taking Delivery of Your Demo Vehicle

Once your demo vehicle is ready, a Tesla Advisor will review your delivery options with you.

To prepare for delivery day, we recommend completing all pre-delivery tasks in advance, such as submitting your insurance details, final payment, trade-in payoff amounts and other necessary documents prior to your delivery date.

Do demo vehicles go through inspection before being sold?

Yes. Every Tesla demo vehicle has passed an internal cosmetic and mechanical inspection and may undergo light repairs to be prepared for sale. Normal wear and tear indicative of the age and mileage of the vehicle should be expected.

Demo vehicles are used for either demo drives or showroom staging purposes and will reflect the mileage based on the purpose for which it was used.
