Tesla offers the Home Charging Program to assist you on the journey of enabling charging at home. Tesla also trains Certified Installers who specialize in electric vehicle charging installation. These installers can help you plan the best charging solution for your home, provide an installation quote and install a Tesla Wall Connector for you.

After installation, you can enjoy the full benefits of Tesla home charging.

With a Wall Connector and its Wi-Fi connectivity, you can control and manage charging through the Tesla app, even for other electric vehicles. You also can power share, set access controls and get remote diagnostics in case something goes wrong.

With a Mobile Connector, you will need to use your vehicle touchscreen and Tesla app to manage and control charging.

The Wall Connector is our recommended home charging solution, as it provides the most convenience with features like scheduling and other electric vehicle compatibility.

However, a Tesla vehicle can also be charged with the Mobile Connector. If you have an existing 220 V outlet with 16 A capability at home, a Mobile Connector may be the best home charging option for you.
Wall Connector offer the maximum charge rate at 11 kW, and 3.5 kW for Mobile Connector, and both work with the Model 3 and Model Y.

The Wall Connector could be installed on a 40A circuit breaker (1 Phase/3 Phases, 32A output), or you can install a 220 V outlet with a 16A circuit breaker (1 Phase, 16A output) and use the Mobile Connector with the Schuko adapter.
The Wall Connector is recommended for home charging because it offers the highest charging rates and speeds and maximum convenience. However, a Tesla vehicle can also be charged with the Mobile Connector from general purpose outlets.

Note: If you intend to use an existing household outlet Tesla recommends contacting an authorized installer or electrician to inspect prior to use. To achieve the best charging experience at home, we recommend installing a Wall Connector.
You can use a Wall Connector to charge all other electric vehicles. Charging speeds vary by vehicle and available power supply.
Installing two Wall Connectors configured for power sharing would be the best option.
Installation costs vary depending on the electrical system and type of installation.
By following the steps for connecting a Wall Connector to local Wi-Fi, you can ensure that your Wall Connector stays up to date with over-the-air firmware updates and remote diagnostics.

We recommend plugging in every evening to top off the battery. If your utility has low, overnight electricity rates, set your charging schedule to match those off-peak times.
Charge the battery to the appropriate charge limit for your Tesla vehicle based on the installed battery. To adjust the charge limit for your vehicle, open the Charging screen on your touchscreen or in the Tesla app and drag the slider. Different batteries require different charging routines for optimal performance. Your vehicle's touchscreen will display the recommended charge limit for your battery. For other electric vehicles, refer to your vehicle manufacturer's guidance.
Tesla vehicle charging speeds vary by model and whether you are using a Mobile Connector or Wall Connector. Refer to your vehicle manufacturer's guidance for charging speeds of other electric vehicles.
