End of Term Inspection

An Inspection Report allows us to provide you or your leasing partner with an accurate buyback offer including any possible reductions in the residual value as a result of excessive wear and tear or excess mileage.

We partner with third party, independent inspection provider DEKRA—in order for you to receive an objective and transparent report on what damages are considered normal wear and what damages you can expect to be charged for.

You may then choose to make repairs or replacements to excessively worn parts before your vehicle is returned so that these charges may be removed.

We recommend that you conduct your end of term inspection as soon as possible and at least 18 days before the vehicle financing maturity date.

Self-Inspection

Follow these steps to perform your vehicle inspection with Handover.

Prepare for the inspection

  1. Park your vehicle in a well-lit location
  2. Ensure your vehicle is clean and marketing stickers are removed
  3. Gather the following:
    • A ruler to measure size of damages
    • A two Euro coin / bank card to measure tyre tread depth
    • All vehicle registration documents and elements
    • All supplied charging cables and adapters
    • Key and spare key
    • Winter wheels, if they were included with your lease contract

Create an account

  1. Login to the DEKRA Handover web application
  2. Select ‘Create an Account’
  3. Enter only the full VIN of your Tesla. You can access your full VIN on the windshield across from the driver’s seat or by pressing 'Service' on the vehicle’s touchscreen display. Important: Do not use vehicle registration number to create your account. This will cause an error.

Perform the inspection

  1. Sign in using the credentials you just created. Your email address is your username.
  2. Select ‘New Handover’
  3. The application will guide your inspection, please note the following:
    • All the yellow points must be checked
    • All photos must be taken when prompted as proof, even if there are no damages
    • Take a photo of all charging cables including adapters that were included when you received the vehicle
    • Take photos of all standard equipment and removable items. Missing items will be charged
    • We require a photo of all four tyres to demonstrate that the tread is at least 4mm. For each photo, place a two Euro coin or a bank card in each tyre’s lowest tread. If you’re using a bank card, please ensure that the magnetic strip is on the bottom.
Repairs Prior to Return

DEKRA will provide you with a repair cost estimation within two working days after your vehicle inspection.

Should you wish to make a repair or claim repairs from your insurance provider, please contact your finance partner or leasing company as you may need to extend your leasing contract so you have enough time to schedule the repairs with a Tesla Approved Body Shop. Once the vehicle is repaired, you can only have the charges removed by providing proof of receipts.

You will be charged for any identified excess damages or missing items that are not repaired or replaced.

Vehicle Return Appointment

Only once we receive your Inspection Report, will we contact you to schedule your vehicle return appointment at a Tesla location within 30 days from the contract end of term. Vehicles without an Inspection Report or scheduled return appointment will not be accepted.

On the day of your vehicle return appointment, please bring all the original registration documents, the spare keys and all supplied charging cables, adapters and any standard accessories such as parcel shelves or winter wheel sets.
