Cybertruck Drive Inverter Replacement Recall

Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on certain Model Year 2024 Cybertruck vehicles produced within the build dates from November 6, 2023 to July 30, 2024, that are or were equipped with metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET) in the drive inverter. The affected population includes vehicles equipped with Inverter Part number family 1802305 containing MOSFET part number 1530063-2A-B.

Is my vehicle affected by this recall?

This recall includes all model year 2024 Cybertruck vehicles manufactured from November 6, 2023 to July 30, 2024. All owners can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN in either the Tesla VIN Recall Search or NHTSA VIN Recall search tools.

What is this issue and is my vehicle safe to drive?

On affected vehicles, a fault in the drive inverter may cause it to stop producing torque. If the inverter stops producing torque, the driver loses the ability to apply torque to the vehicle using the accelerator pedal resulting in a loss of propulsion, which may increase the risk of a collision.

No warning occurs prior to the loss of propulsion. However, when the driver loses the ability to apply torque, they will immediately receive a visual alert on the user interface, with an instruction to safely pull over the vehicle to the side of the road and contact Tesla Roadside Assistance.

Tesla is not aware of any collisions, fatalities or injuries that are or may be related to the condition.

What is the recall remedy and how long does it take to perform?

At no charge to the customer, Tesla will replace the recalled drive inverter with a drive inverter equipped with a properly functioning MOSFET component. Replacement of the drive inverter will take approximately three hours.

Do I need to make a service appointment for this recall?

Yes. Schedule a service appointment using the Tesla app by selecting ‘Service’ > ‘Request Service’ > ‘Other’ > ‘Something Else’ and entering the note “Open Recall Repair – Cybertruck Drive Inverter Recall” into the ‘Describe Concern’ field.
