Forward-Facing Camera Pitch Adjustment

Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on certain model year 2023 Model S, Model X and Model Y vehicles to inspect the pitch angle of the forward-facing cameras and where necessary, adjust the angle to specification. This recall applies to some, but not all, Model S, Model X and Model Y vehicles identified using manufacturing records and onboard camera pitch angle data.

Is my vehicle affected by this recall?

All owners can check if their VIN is affected by using either the Tesla VIN Recall Search or NHTSA VIN Recall Search tools.

What is this issue and how does it affect my vehicle?

On affected vehicles, the pitch angle of the forward-facing cameras may not be aligned to specification, which may cause certain active safety features, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and Lane keeping assist, to be unavailable without alerting the driver.

Is my vehicle safe to drive?

Although safety features that are unavailable without any warning to driver may increase the risk of a collision, we are not aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths that may be related to this condition.

What is the recall remedy and how long does it take to perform?

At no charge to you, Tesla Service will inspect the pitch angle of the forward-facing cameras on affected vehicles and, where necessary, adjust the angle to specification. Inspecting the pitch angle and adjusting to specification, if necessary, takes less than 20 minutes.
