Update Vehicle Firmware to Enhance Automatic Window Reversal System
Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on certain model year 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles, model year 2017-2022 Model 3 vehicles and model year 2019-2022 Model Y vehicles to correct performance of automatic window reversal systems to comply with regulatory standards.
Software version 2023.2.12 or later includes the remedy that ensures compliances of the vehicle’s automatic window reversal system to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 118, Section 5. The updated software began rolling out over-the-air (OTA) to affected vehicles beginning February 15, 2023.

What is this issue and how does it affect my vehicle?
Affected vehicles may not meet certain automatic window reversal system requirements set in FMVSS 118, Section 5. More specifically, under circumstances subject to this regulatory standard, the window may exert more force than permitted before retracting and in some cases, the window may retract less than the distance required.
Is my vehicle safe to drive?

The software version 2023.2.12 and later includes the remedy that will enhance the calibration of the vehicles automatic window reversal system behavior to comply with regulatory standards and has been deployed over-the-air (OTA) to all affected vehicles.

No. This recall is addressed by updating the vehicle software, which does not require the customer to schedule a service appointment.
