How to File a Claim With Tesla Insurance

If you are a Tesla Insurance policyholder, the fastest way to submit a Tesla Insurance claim is through the Tesla app. You can also use the Tesla app to schedule roadside assistance, review repair estimates and schedule a service appointment.

If you don’t have a Tesla Insurance policy, you can get started and file a vehicle-to-vehicle accident claim with Tesla Insurance. For all other claim types or inquiries, contact our Claims team at 1-844-34-TESLA.

File a Claim

In the event of an emergency, call 911 for emergency assistance, especially in the event of any injuries.

Filing a Claim

To file a Tesla Insurance claim in the Tesla app, follow these steps:

Open the Tesla app.
Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
Tap ‘Claims.’
Tap ‘Start New Claim.’

Checking the Status of a Claim

To check the status of a Tesla Insurance claim, contact your assigned adjuster identified in the communications you received after submitting the claim. To help ensure prompt service, you must provide your Tesla Insurance claim number including dashes in the subject line of your email. Typically, a vehicle is a total loss when the repair cost plus the anticipated salvage value is greater than the market value of the vehicle. In some states, a vehicle may be a total loss if the repair costs exceed a percentage of the vehicle's value. Your Tesla Claims Adjuster will help determine if your vehicle is a total loss and will serve as your primary contact for questions or concerns.
If other parties are responsible for the damage to your vehicle, the Tesla Recovery team will take reasonable steps on your behalf to attempt to recover your deductible from the party responsible and reimburse it to you. Depending on the circumstances of your claim, it may take several months to resolve liability and other related issues with the party responsible and the insurance provider. If the Tesla Recovery team successfully recovers any monies, your deductible will be refunded in part or whole based upon the recovered amount and/or relevant laws.
