Refer and Earn

Our goal is to help Tesla customers share their passion for Tesla’s products and our mission — to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Through Tesla’s referral program, you can earn exclusive benefits by making your first Tesla product purchase, referring other first-time customers and by continuing to purchase qualifying Tesla products.

Note: To earn buyer benefits, you must purchase a qualifying Tesla product with a referral and have never owned a qualifying Tesla product in the past. To earn referral credits, you must own a qualifying Tesla product.

You can see the current available offers in the Tesla app. The referral program is subject to these Terms and Conditions, including a cap, and can change at any time and without notice.

Used vehicle purchases do not qualify for credits or benefits. If you or a friend placed a vehicle order prior to May 11, 2023 through a referral link, your order falls under a previous referral program.

Buyer Benefits

You can earn buyer benefits when you make your first Tesla product purchase. To earn buyer benefits with that purchase, you must use a valid referral link when ordering. Referrals cannot be applied after ordering.

Once you’ve made your first purchase, you no longer qualify for buyer benefits, but you may still be able to earn referral credits and loyalty benefits. Buyer benefits can, at Tesla’s sole discretion, take the form of cash or credits. Tesla also reserves the right to convert buyer benefits from cash to credits, for example if an order is assigned to a third party after placement.

Referral Credits

You can earn referral credits by having friends or family use your referral link when they order their first Tesla product or take their first referred test drive. You will not receive referral credits for referring existing Tesla customers for purchases or test drives.

To be eligible to receive referral credits, a buyer must purchase a qualifying Tesla product through a valid referral link. A referral cannot be added after an order is placed, and not receiving referral awards is likely due to not having an order placed through a referral link. Once a buyer places their order, the applicable awards will be "pending" until the Grant Date. All awards are based on the date of the qualifying order.

To be eligible to receive referral credits from a test drive, your friend must schedule their test drive using your referral link. You can only receive the applicable award if this is your friend’s first test drive and if they don’t already own a qualifying Tesla product.

To be eligible to receive referral credits from any source, you must also have a qualifying Tesla product in your Tesla Account. If you transfer or remove all qualifying products from your account, you will not receive referral credits when your friend orders and takes delivery of their first Tesla vehicle until you take delivery of another qualifying Tesla vehicle.

Note: Referrals cannot be applied after ordering, so make sure your friends place their orders or schedule their test drive using your referral link.

All credits have equal value and accrue under one balance. Credits can be redeemed for Tesla referral awards in the Tesla app, after the Grant Date — the date when the Tesla vehicle is delivered or the test drive is completed. Credit values and available offers and awards are subject to change at any time without notice.

Loyalty Benefits

You can earn loyalty benefits by purchasing additional qualifying Tesla products using your same Tesla Account used to purchase Tesla products previously. You can see the current available offers in the Tesla app.

When you purchase a qualifying Tesla product through a referral link, you may receive buyer benefits and exclusive referral benefits, and your friend may receive referral credits. The referral cannot be added after the order is placed. Benefits are determined by the date of the qualifying order, but Tesla has the right to convert cash benefits to credits.

To purchase with a referral link:

1. Visit your friend’s referral link.
2. Purchase the Tesla product of your choice from the referral link.
3. After you place the order, credits will appear as ‘pending’ for the referrer until the Grant Date.

Share your referral link with your friends and family directly from the Tesla app. When your friend orders a qualifying Tesla product with your referral link, your friend will receive buyer benefits. After your friend takes delivery of the vehicle order, you will receive referral credits if you have a qualifying Tesla product in your account.

To refer a friend:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
3. Select ‘Refer and Earn.’
4. View the amount of referral credits you will earn and the buyer benefits and exclusive referral benefits your friend will receive for each qualifying Tesla product.
5. Tap ‘Refer Now.’
6. From your list of contacts, select the friend you’d like to refer and send the referral message. You can also tap the share icon in the upper-right corner to send your referral link.
7. After your friend places an order, credits will appear as ‘pending’ in the Tesla app until the Grant Date.

Existing customers may automatically earn loyalty benefits when they purchase additional qualifying Tesla products using the same Tesla Account. You do not need to use a referral link to earn loyalty benefits.

To earn loyalty benefits:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
3. Select ‘Refer and Earn.’
4. Tap ‘Loyalty’ on the Earn tab to view qualifying products.
5. Purchase the Tesla product of your choice using your email associated with your existing Tesla products.
6. After you place the order, credits will automatically appear as ‘pending’ in the Tesla app until the Grant Date.

To earn loyalty benefits, you must own (or have previously owned) a qualifying product, and your subsequent purchase of an additional qualifying product must be made using the same Tesla Account. You can earn loyalty benefits in your account up to five times. Credits cannot be transferred between accounts — even if you own both.

If an existing customer attempts to order through a referral link (whether their own or a friend’s), they will not qualify for the referral benefits for buyers, nor will the referrer qualify for referral credits, because the buyer is already part of the Tesla community. Instead, the customer automatically earns loyalty benefits associated with the purchased product.

Open the Tesla app to view your credit balance and shop for benefits.

To shop with credits:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
3. Select ‘Refer and Earn.’
4. Browse the available benefits and the number of credits needed to claim each benefit.
5. Select your benefit.
6. Tap ‘Redeem.’
7. Enter your shipping address and review your remaining credit balance upon redemption.
8. Tap ‘Redeem Credits’ to claim your benefit.

All credit redemptions are final. No returns or exchanges are accepted. Credits can only be redeemed for benefits in the Tesla app. Credits cannot be used to purchase merchandise or accessories on Tesla Shop, nor can they be applied to any other Tesla product or service.

• Expiration Dates
  Your credits expire 12 months and Supercharging miles expire 6 months from their respective Grant Dates.

  If you earn additional credits, the expiration date for all of your credits will be extended by 12 months from the most recent Grant Date. In order to extend the expiration date for all of your credits, the delivery date must precede the previous credit expiration date.

  If you redeem credits for additional Supercharging miles, the expiration date for all of your Supercharging miles will be extended by 6 months, up to 36 months.

Effective May 11, 2023

By participating in Tesla’s referral program, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions and understand that they are subject to change. Tesla customers must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for credits, which are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash. Tesla customers can refer up to 12 order referrals and 60 test drive referrals per calendar year and the order must be placed or the test drive must be scheduled using the customer’s referral link (except for loyalty benefits). Referral links cannot be credited after the order is placed or the test drive is scheduled and cannot be used by the same Tesla Account more than once. Credits must be redeemed within 12 months of their Grant Date, or they will expire.

All credit redemptions are final - no returns or exchanges are accepted. Credits can only be redeemed for designated benefits in the Tesla app, which are subject to availability and may differ by region and product type. Credits cannot be redeemed for merchandise or accessories on shop.tesla.com or applied to any other Tesla product or service. Credits cannot be applied retroactively or to benefits that are no longer available for redemption. The customer is responsible for all taxes and local requirements and fees. Merchandise and accessories benefits are only available in regions where Tesla Shop has launched. Only primary account holders can redeem credits for benefits. Nothing in the referral program shall be deemed to create any kind of relationship between the referrer and Tesla or any of Tesla’s Affiliates. The referrer has no authority to represent or bind Tesla. This program and its benefits are conditional on and subject to the local laws and regulations of the registration or installation address of the referrer and buyer, respectively.

We introduce programs such as these in good faith and expect the same good faith in return. The intent of this program is to reward loyal Tesla customers for sharing their passion for Tesla products with their friends and family. To be clear, paid advertising, selling or paying or offering incentives for use of referral links is not appropriate, and we will not honor referral links associated with behavior that violates these Terms and Conditions. Customers who have violated any Tesla policy are disqualified from this program. Additionally, we reserve the right to withhold benefits where we believe customers are acting in bad faith or otherwise acting contrary to the intent of this program. Tesla’s referral program will not remain open indefinitely. If credits are not used during the timeframe of the program at no fault of Tesla’s, we reserve the right to cancel the credits once the program ends. We cannot cover every nefarious scenario, nor will we attempt to, but we do promise to be fair and reasonable. If you disagree with us, it will be your responsibility to show us that you have not violated any Tesla policies or these Terms and Conditions.
