Trade-Ins

We accept passenger cars, trucks, vans and SUVs for trade-in value towards a new or used Tesla vehicle purchase. Internal combustion engine vehicles (ICE), plug-in electric vehicles (PHEV) and electric vehicles (EV) are all acceptable for trade-in.

We do not accept motorcycles, RVs or commercial vehicles. We also do not accept vehicles that:

• Have a leased battery contract
• Have suffered flood damage
• Have been used as taxis, commercial vehicles such as transport services or car sharing, government vehicles or vehicles for any other commercial operation

Get started with an estimate of your trade-in value by submitting your vehicle information.

If you are interested in trading in your vehicle before placing an order, you can get an estimate for your trade-in vehicle. To request an estimate, a Tesla Account is required and you must submit the following:

• VIN number
• Mileage shown on the odometer
• Model year
• Vehicle configuration
• Registration number
• First registration date
• Information on VAT regime

Once you have provided this information, we will send you an estimate of your trade-in vehicle. An estimate is a non-binding estimation of potential trade-in value of the trade-in vehicle presented by Tesla. This estimate is for information purposes only and is based on the vehicle, the information provided by the seller with the request for an estimate and on general market data at the time of the request.

You can also request an offer for your trade-in vehicle after you place your order of a Tesla vehicle. We will provide you with an offer subject to you providing the same information required for the estimate and additional information listed in Section 3.1 of the Trade-In Terms and Conditions. You will be notified by email or in the Tesla app when your trade-in offer is ready.

If you accept the trade-in offer, you must upload a photo of a valid registration card and your vehicle registration papers. Once your vehicle registration documents are confirmed and approved, you can schedule your delivery date.

The trade-in vehicle must be free and clear of all liens and encumbrances. If your trade-in vehicle is financed, you must provide a settlement letter from the financing entity.

Your trade-in offer can be applied towards the purchase price of your new or used Tesla vehicle.

To trade in your vehicle, you must hand over the vehicle, registration documents and a lien release if applicable during your delivery appointment.

We’ll ask you to submit a variety of photos to help us evaluate the condition of the vehicle. You’ll be asked to provide:

• 4 clear photos in the daylight of the exterior
  • 1 of the entire driver side of the vehicle
  • 1 of the entire reverse side of the vehicle
  • 1 of the entire passenger side of the vehicle
  • 1 of the entire front side of the vehicle
• 1 photo of the interior of the vehicle

In addition to the above, you must also submit clear photos of any vehicle damage. All photos must be taken outdoors in daylight. Photos taken inside of a garage are not accepted.

Trade-in vehicles must be properly registered in your country and with your name to be eligible for trade-in. A physical title is required at delivery if you are not actively financing or leasing your trade-in vehicle.

We do not accept vehicles that are registered outside of Ireland. The vehicle must have a valid registration and you must have paid any taxes, fines or other administrative fees related to the trade-in vehicle. Vehicles imported from the U.S. will not be accepted.

Yes. You must disclose any defect, fault, modification, mechanical flaw or subject to any other condition that would adversely affect the value of the trade-in vehicle, except as otherwise explicitly disclosed in writing to Tesla and subsequently accepted by Tesla.

In case you are not the owner listed on the vehicle registration documents, you must complete a power of attorney, minimum 96 hours prior to the scheduled delivery date of the Tesla vehicle, to ensure you are authorized by the owner to trade in the vehicle and transfer the ownership.

We do not accept more than one trade-in vehicle toward the purchase of a new or used vehicle. In certain situations, we can purchase another Tesla vehicle directly from you. Contact your Advisor to hear about the available options.

As your delivery date approaches, you will be asked to submit your trade-in details in your Tesla Account. Once submitted, we will provide a trade-in offer based on current market conditions and the conditions of the vehicle within 48 hours.

The trade-in offer provides the best offer within the current market conditions. Trade-in offers are not negotiable and we do not match competing offers.

Trade-in values are determined based on the criteria set forth in Section 2.3 of the Trade-In Terms and Conditions such as VIN, vehicle configuration , registration number, history, mileage shown on the odometer, first registration date and VAT regime. The resulting value is based on information provided to us about the vehicle as set forth in Section 3.1 of the Trade-In Terms and Conditions.

Yes. The final trade-in offer will expire after 30 days as from the date of provision of the offer or on the date of delivery of the Tesla vehicle, whichever comes first.

Aftermarket vehicle modifications typically have a negative effect on trade-in valuations. It is best for trade-in vehicles to be in its original state.

All trade-in vehicles must be dropped off during your scheduled delivery appointment. We cannot accept trade-in vehicles before or after your scheduled delivery appointment, unless otherwise agreed in writing with Tesla.

Trade-in vehicles must be dropped off at your assigned delivery location during your scheduled delivery appointment.

All owners listed on the trade-in vehicle registration must be present at delivery to sign the trade-in documentation. Failure to have these individuals present could result in delayed delivery.

In case you are not the owner listed on the vehicle registration document, you must complete a power of attorney to ensure you are authorized by the owner to trade in the vehicle.

Before trading in your vehicle, the vehicle owner must clear any data and restore it to factory settings. This ensures that all your personal information is removed before you trade in your vehicle. We will not check whether you have cleared your data and we are not responsible for ensuring that your personal data is removed from your trade-in vehicle.

If you are trading in another vehicle that is not a Tesla vehicle, check your owner’s manual for guidance on removing your data. If you are trading in a Tesla vehicle, tap ‘Controls’ > ‘Service’ > ‘Factory Reset’ on your touchscreen to clear your data and restore to factory settings.

Trade-in vehicles cannot be returned once trade-in documents are signed, the vehicle is in our possession and the transaction is complete. For additional details, review your Trade-In Terms and Conditions.
