Ordering a Used Tesla Vehicle

For orders made on or after April 29, 2021, we can no longer ship your vehicle to your local Delivery Center. We encourage you to look at our selection of new Tesla vehicles that suit your needs.

No. All used Tesla vehicle pricing is non-negotiable.

No. The $100 order deposit is non-refundable after the order is placed. If you take delivery, the deposit will be applied towards the cost of your vehicle.

All used vehicles with Autopilot hardware will come with one of the versions below. A Used Vehicle Advisor can provide more information. Feature availability varies based on model, configuration, country and more.

• Autopilot with Convenience Features: Enables Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning and Lane Departure Avoidance.
  Note: This version cannot be upgraded to Full Self-Driving (Supervised).
• Standard Autopilot: Enables Emergency Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Autosteer, Automatic Emergency Braking and Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance.
  Note: This version can be upgraded to Full Self-Driving (Supervised) at current market price.
• Full Self-Driving (Supervised): Enables Navigate on Autopilot to allow automatic driving from highway on-ramp to off-ramp, Auto Lane Change to automatically change lanes while driving on highway, Autopark in both parallel and perpendicular spaces, Dumb Summon and Traffic and Stop Sign Control (Beta) which identifies stop signs and traffic lights and automatically slows your vehicle to a stop on approach, with your active supervision.
  Note: As these self-driving features evolve, your vehicle will be continuously upgraded through over-the-air software updates.

Used Tesla vehicles are eligible for various connectivity trials. Eligibility for connectivity plans varies based on vehicle model and date of purchase. View which connectivity plans apply to your used Tesla vehicle.

We recommend scheduling a demo drive at your local Tesla store. If your local store has used vehicles available for a demo drive, a Tesla Advisor can assist you in scheduling an appointment. Since used vehicles are available for purchase online, we cannot guarantee the availability of a particular vehicle for your demo drive appointment.

If your vehicle comes equipped with an upgraded Infotainment System, your touchscreen will be more responsive and smoother, rendering images and web pages faster. You’ll also gain additional features that enhance both the entertainment and functionality of your vehicle.

Note: Some audio and music features will be removed from your vehicle as a result of this change and can be reviewed below.

You can pay for your used Tesla vehicle through Tesla Financing, third-party financing, wire transfer and check. We suggest starting your third-party financing inquiries prior to viewing inventory, to best understand rates and down payment requirements. Used Tesla vehicles cannot be leased.

We accept all types of passenger vehicles, trucks and vans on trade-in. You can get an instant trade-in quote online.

Prior to your delivery appointment, you must submit all trade-in information, a copy of your driver’s license, proof of insurance and proof of financial approval (if applicable). Your Tesla Account will guide you through necessary tasks. Once these steps are complete, you will be ready for your scheduled pickup.

Delivery timing estimates are displayed when placing an order on a used vehicle. A Tesla representative will contact you to provide information on final delivery timing as soon as it is available.

No. For orders made on or after April 29, 2021, all Tesla used vehicles must be delivered and registered within the province that they are located at time of order. We will no longer be able to provide (or accept) temporary or transfer registration in order to facilitate the transport of the vehicle out-of-province.

No. Incentives only apply to new vehicles.

All used Tesla vehicles are covered by a Used Vehicle Limited Warranty and any coverage remaining on the vehicle’s original New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Learn more about warranty coverage for used Tesla vehicles.

Used vehicles may be sold with open recalls requiring future repairs. Repairs can be addressed during ownership by making a service appointment at a Tesla Service Center. Check if a particular VIN is affected by a recall.

Every used Tesla vehicle has passed an internal inspection and may undergo, or is currently undergoing, light repairs to be prepared for sale. Cosmetic imperfections and normal wear and tear indicative of the age and mileage of the vehicle should be expected.

Mechanical Condition

Every used Tesla vehicle meets or exceeds Tesla’s Mechanical Standards as outlined below:

• No evidence of structural repairs
• Tires (4 mm minimum tread remaining)
• Brake pads (6 mm minimum break pad thickness remaining)

Components inspected for functionality

• Autopilot (if equipped)
• Displays
• Power-operated components
• Steering and suspension components
• Powertrain system
• Vehicle braking system
• Exterior lighting systems
• Driver controls
• Safety restraint systems
• Charging system and equipment functionality

Cosmetic Condition

Cosmetic wear and tear is typical of a used vehicle and does not affect the functionality of the vehicle. Your vehicle may exhibit cosmetic wear and tear that includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Exterior

• Paint scratches that measure up to 10 cm in one direction
• Scuffs and scrapes that measure up to 10 cm in multiple directions
• Dents or dings that are less than 5 cm in diameter
• Rock chips

Glass

• Pitting on windshield
• Up to one chip less than or equal to 1.3 cm in diameter, not in the driver's line of sight
• Surface scratches, not in the driver's line of sight

Wheels

• Scratches, gouges, chips or dents less than 15 cm

Interior

• Wear on upholstery or interior panels including markings, discoloration, small tears or stains up to 2.5 cm
• Wear on entry and exit points

Touchscreen

• Discoloration around the screen edge or border

Keys

Each vehicle will be delivered with a minimum of one key card or key fob.

A factory reset will remove the previous owner’s preferences. To factory reset your Tesla vehicle, tap ‘Controls’ > ‘Service’ > ‘Factory Reset’ on your touchscreen.
