Excess Wear and Use Guide

Mileage

Your allowable mileage is determined at the beginning of the lease. Refer to your lease agreement to confirm the maximum number of kilometers you may drive during the lease. If the mileage on the vehicle exceeds your predetermined limit, you will be charged a per-km fee in accordance with your lease agreement.

Wear

We offer a self-inspection process and our guidelines will determine if the wear is normal or considered excessive.

Normal wear can include a few small door dings, chips or scratches and you will not be charged. These are expected from the normal use of a vehicle.

Excess wear may include items such as dents, cracks in glass, tears in the upholstery or poor-quality repairs. These are not expected from the normal use of a vehicle and may warrant charges. Review the Excess Wear and Use Table for a comprehensive list.

Avoid Excess Charges

Because the self-inspection is completed prior to the end of your lease, you may have time to repair any damage and avoid excess charges.

Check with your insurance company to see if any damage is covered by your insurance. You may choose to have Tesla or a Tesla Certified Collision Center make the repairs. You may also contact your local Tesla Service + site to see if any issues are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. If you choose to do this, contact us to let us know these repairs have been addressed. You may be required to send copies of your receipts and other proof of the repairs before we remove the excess wear charges from your account.

Tires

Tires must meet RWC conditions.

Wheels

Two scratches that are less than 7.5 cm on a wheel may be considered normal; however, any scratches 7.5 cm or greater would be considered excessive.

Minor Scratches

A few small scratches are normal and acceptable on a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. These can usually be buffed out easily during a routine vehicle reconditioning.

Excess Scratches

Multiple scratches or scratches that break the paint are much more difficult and costly to repair. This would be considered excess wear and you may be charged.
