Self-Serve Test Drive
A self-serve test drive allows you to experience Tesla on your own terms. During your self-serve test drive, you get full access to the vehicle through the Tesla app for an immersive experience.
Self-serve test drives are available at convenient locations across the country without advisors on-site.
You can schedule a self-serve test drive online. Prior to your appointment, you will receive information on what to expect through email. You must have a valid driver’s license.
Note: When scheduling your appointment, make sure that you select a location that includes ‘Self-Serve Test Drive’ in the location name. Self-serve test drives are not available at all locations.
Requirements
- Only you are authorized to drive. No additional driver is supported for the driving experience. Passengers are allowed.
- You must have a valid driver’s license.
Drive Expectations
- Your drive will last for the scheduled duration, which is typically 30 minutes.
- As a part of your drive, we encourage you to experience the ease of your closest charging stations for a few short minutes prior to takeoff.
- Arrive on time. Early arrival will not allow you access to the vehicle.
- As the end of your drive approaches, navigate back to the pickup location and park in the same spot.
- Return the vehicle on time to ensure a seamless experience for the next appointment.
Before your drive, you will need to:
- Download the Tesla app on the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in with the email address and password used to schedule your drive.
Note: If you do not already have a Tesla Account associated with that email address, one will automatically be created for you and you will be prompted to check your email and establish a password for your new account.
- Upload a picture of the front and back of your driver’s license.
- Sign the Self-Serve Test Drive Agreement.
Prior to your drive, one of our advisors will reach out to you to confirm your appointment and talk you through what to expect on the day.
Review the Owner’s Manuals to familiarize yourself with the features of Tesla vehicles:
Plan to arrive five minutes before your drive to locate the Tesla vehicle. Have the Tesla app downloaded on your mobile device to maximize your drive time once your appointment begins.
Finding Your Tesla Vehicle
When you arrive at your designated location, open the Tesla app and tap ’I’ve Arrived.’ Once your appointment time has started, the Tesla app will automatically connect to your assigned vehicle if it is within range.
Once connected, the in-app map will show the exact location of your vehicle relative to you. You can honk the horn or flash the vehicle lights using the Tesla app to help you locate the vehicle.
Experiencing Tesla
Once you enter the vehicle, a test drive walk-through will appear on the touchscreen to guide you through adjusting the vehicle settings to your preferences.
Begin your drive by navigating to the nearest Supercharger to experience the convenience and ease of the Supercharging network. Learn more about Tesla charging.
At any point during your appointment, you can contact an advisor by phone in the Tesla App to answer questions and help troubleshoot any problems that arise.
Return your Tesla vehicle back to the same spot at your selected self-serve test drive location by the end of your appointment time. We ask that you do not leave your Tesla vehicle plugged into a Supercharger. Remember to take your belongings and lock the vehicle using the Tesla app. No other action is needed.
