RH Body-Mounted Taillight Recall
Tesla has issued a recall of affected vehicles that were manufactured in Germany with a Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) that has elevated input capacitance. This may cause certain right rear tail lamps on the vehicles to enter an overcurrent safe mode, which may further cause the tail lamp to stop illuminating. Brake lamps remain functional when this condition is present.
Is my vehicle affected by this recall and what should I do?
All owners can check if their VIN is affected by using either the Tesla VIN Recall Search or NHTSA VIN Recall Search tools.
To complete the necessary repair, schedule a Service Appointment using the Tesla app by selecting ‘Service' > ‘Request Service’ > 'Other' > 'Something Else' and entering the note 'Open Recall Repair – Replace RH Body-Mounted Taillight” into the 'Describe Concern' field.
Is my car safe to drive?
A tail lamp that stops illuminating in dark driving conditions can reduce rear visibility of the vehicle for other motorists, which may increase the risk of a crash. Tesla is not aware of any injuries relating to this condition.
