Update Vehicle Firmware for Smoother Steering

On certain Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built between May 2022 and September 2023, the driver may experience a notchy feel or sensation from the steering wheel when operating the vehicle in cold temperatures, which may not comply with ECE Regulation R79, 5.1.1 and 5.1.2.

All owners can check if their VIN is affected by using the Tesla VIN Recall Search.

Check the vehicle’s software version by selecting Controls and Software. If necessary, update the vehicle software to version 2023.38 or later.

No service visit is necessary, and no further action is necessary from owners whose vehicles are equipped with software release 2023.38 or a later.

You can confirm your vehicle’s software version by tapping 'Controls' > 'Software’ on your touchscreen or at the bottom of your vehicle’s home screen in the Tesla mobile app.
