Electric Vehicle Incentives

The Government announced on 28 February 2024 the details of the new arrangements for first registration tax (FRT) concessions for electric private vehicles as follows:

  • i. except for eligible private car owners (see (a) ii. below), FRT for electric private cars continues to be waived up to $58,500 from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2026, as at present.
  • ii. The first registration tax (FRT) concession arrangement for electric vehicles (EVs) is extended till March 31, 2026. The FRT concession cap for private car (PC) owners eligible for the "One-for-One" Scheme will be adjusted to HK$172,500.
