Tyre Repair and Maintenance
Tesla tyres are built to optimise performance, safety, reliability and durability. Since tyres degrade over time from the effects of ultraviolet light, extreme temperatures, high loads and environmental conditions, always follow the recommended tyre rotation schedule. For more information on ways to optimise the performance of your vehicle, see the recommended practices for vehicle maintenance.
Roadside Assistance
Roadside Assistance is available to you, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for the duration of your warranty period. If your tyre is damaged and prevents you from safely operating your vehicle, you can request roadside assistance. Learn more about our Roadside Assistance Policy.
Loaner Wheel Service
In some regions, our trained roadside providers carry a limited number of loaner wheels to quickly exchange for your damaged wheel or tire. A new tire will be mounted on your original wheel, at your cost, at your nearest Service Center.
Towing
If you have an active vehicle warranty, transportation services are free of charge to the nearest Tesla Service Center within 50 miles of the vehicle’s location when you repair or replace your tire with Tesla. Contact Roadside Assistance to learn more or arrange an appointment directly within the Tesla app.
Punctured Tyres
A puncture eventually causes the tyre to lose pressure, which is why it is important to check tyre pressures frequently. Replace punctured or damaged tyres as soon as possible. Your tubeless tyres may not leak when penetrated, provided the object remains in the tyre.
If you feel a sudden vibration or ride disturbance while driving, or you suspect a tyre is damaged, immediately reduce your speed. Drive slowly while avoiding heavy braking or sharp steering and, when safe to do so, stop the vehicle. Arrange to have your vehicle transported to the nearest tyre shop, or consult your nearest Tesla Service Center for tyre availability.
Note: If you notice your tyre has been punctured and you are able to maintain control of your vehicle, try to inflate your tyre and drive carefully to the closest third-party tyre shop or Tesla Service Centre. The tyre may only lose air slowly, monitor your tyre pressure closely while driving. If your tyre is not able to hold air, do not keep on driving and contact Roadside Assistance.
Flat Tyre or Tyre is Not Holding Air
If you have a flat tyre, you can contact Tesla Roadside Assistance or a third-party provider. Roadside Assistance is available to you, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For the duration of your New Vehicle Warranty or Used Vehicle Limited Warranty, Roadside Assistance is provided at no cost.
If your tyre is leaking or not holding air and your vehicle becomes inoperable, you can request roadside assistance immediately from the bottom of the Tesla app home screen.
Tesla Roadside Assistance can get your vehicle to the nearest service center or, in some locations, have Tesla Mobile Service come to you. You are responsible for the cost of tyre repair or replacement. Before any vehicle service is performed, we will contact you with the cost of replacement or repair for your vehicle's specific tyre.
If your vehicle is stationary for a long period in high temperatures, tyres can form flat spots. When the vehicle is driven, these flat spots cause a vibration which gradually disappears as the tyres warm up and regain their original shape. To minimise flat spots during storage, inflate tyres to the maximum pressure indicated on the tyre wall. Then, before driving, release air to adjust tyre pressure to the recommended levels.
Keep tyres inflated to the pressures shown on the tyre and loading information label, even if it differs from the pressure printed on the tyre itself. The tyre and loading information label is located on the centre door pillar and is visible when the driver’s door is open.

Follow these steps when tyres are cold and if your vehicle has been stationary for over three hours:
- Remove the valve cap.
- Firmly press an accurate tyre pressure gauge onto the valve to measure pressure.
- If required, add or remove air to reach the recommended pressure. You can release air by pressing the metal stem in the center of the valve.
- Re-check pressure using the tyre gauge.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 as necessary until the tyre pressure is correct.
- Replace the valve cap to prevent dirt from entering. Periodically check the valve for damage and leaks.
Under-inflation is the most common cause of tyre damage and can cause a tyre to overheat, resulting in severe tyre cracking, tread separation, or blowout, which causes unexpected loss of vehicle control and increased risk of injury. Under-inflation also reduces the vehicle's range and tyre tread life.
Misaligned wheels and unbalanced tyres can negatively impact vehicle handling, performance and steering. To maintain your tyre and wheel, always follow the recommended Tesla tyre rotation schedule.
I have a flat/leaking tyre, what should I do?
Check if your tyre is completely flat or if it will hold air. If the tyre holds air and you feel safe driving to the nearest tyre shop, do so. Contact Roadside Assistance to review service options available.
What should my tyre pressure be?
Depending on your vehicle configuration, your tyre pressure should be between 40-45 psi. You can check for your specific vehicle by opening your driver’s door and checking the sticker along the vehicle's frame. This sticker lists the tyre pressures for when the tyres are cold. For most accurate results, check the tyre pressure when the vehicle is at home with no driving, or is used with the shortest distance and lowest speed driving possible.
Can I take my damaged tyres to a third-party party tyre shop?
Yes. Damaged Tesla tyres can be taken to a nearby third-party tyre shop for replacement.
