Upgrade to a New Tesla Vehicle

Tesla products get better over time with over-the-air software updates and our newest vehicles come with all our latest options—including faster acceleration, longer range, dual motor all-wheel drive and enhanced interior styling.

When you are approaching the end of your lease, contact us to learn more about your upgrade options.

If you’re looking to return your vehicle and upgrade before the end of your lease, we offer several options to end your lease early. Depending on how long you have left on your lease, your payment status and other factors, you may be eligible for an early lease termination or a lease transfer.

Return Your Tesla Vehicle

We will contact you 30-60 days prior to your maturity date to complete your final inspection and schedule your drop-off appointment. Contact us with any questions on the return process.

You may be able to avoid additional costs by repairing any excess wear and tear prior to your final inspection. If you make repairs after submitting your inspection, keep a copy of the repair receipt.

Extend Your Lease

If your account is in good standing, you can apply for a lease extension for up to six months beyond your original lease-end date. Lease extensions can only be granted once.

Eligibility

To apply for an extension, you must be:

  • Within three months of the lease maturity date
  • Current on all lease payments

Getting Started

To apply for a lease extension, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap ‘Financing.’
  3. Tap ‘Lease Details.’
  4. Tap ‘Manage Lease.’
  5. Select ‘Extend Lease.’
  6. Select and confirm the term you wish to extend. You can extend for a maximum of six months past the maturity date.
  7. You will receive an electronic form with your term information. Review and sign the electronic form. Once signed, we will review your account for eligibility and provide a final, executed copy for your records.

If you extend your lease, your Autopay will automatically continue on your lease agreement date. Autopay will continue until you return your vehicle.

Lease extensions are often defaulted to six months, but you can return your vehicle prior to the end date of the extension and only be responsible for the monthly lease payments already accrued. You will be billed for the entire month in which you return the vehicle. We will not prorate the monthly payment to the day.
